This blog is no longer the home of the legendary – GMSC Skateboard and lifestyle emporium* but is now the new GMSC blog. Here occasionally our minds will wander onto new themes – food, drink, life & the living & loving of, semi occasional ramblings, findings & links, even maybe a little bit of skateboarding, you never know. *(The best little skateboard store this side of just about everywhere for those in the know in case you were wondering). GMSC – because we like it that way.

fresh new release from dope team ambassador and global traveller Mr Will Holland AKA Quantic..

Our friends over at tru thoughts have let us know of the fresh new release from dope team ambassador and global traveller Mr Will Holland AKA Quantic..

"This summer Tru Thoughts are proud to present the fourth solo album by Quantic; Will Holland's eighth full-length production, and the label's 100th release.

A year and a half in the making, An Announcement To Answer marks the next step in the evolution of Quantic's sound, broadening his musical palette whilst still delivering the trademark grooves that have made him a sure-fire floor-filler for DJs worldwide.

Written and recorded on a laptop during an extended period of international gigging & crate-digging, Quantic has fused the traditional sounds of Puerto Rico, Nigeria, Benin, Ghana and Ethiopia with hip hop, soul, funk and jazz to produce his own potent musical brew.Guest artists include Noelle Scaggs from The Rebirth, Ohmega Watts and Puerto Rican percussionist Tempo, who has previously worked with Roberto Roena of the legendary Fania All Stars".

GO SKATEDAY ROUND UP!

Go Skate day, Brighton was a great success (even making the front page of the evening argus even though they got the location wrong at least they got the right day and sport) - over 250 sk8rs skating and loadsa spectators spectating, sun shone although the gale force winds meant not did everyone end up with windburn but the highest ollie comp and high jump comp had to be held true ghetto stylee in the subway, nothing like a bit of tramps piss to keep you focused.

Under 16's game of s.k.a.t.e attracted 0ver 30 entries before the final prizes went to Brighton local (and work experience monitor smashing) Dan (1st), closely followed by Young patch who came from nowhere to throw down skills & make 2nd.

Over 16's was hottly contested with 40 odd participants before the final prize went to our very own GMSC store rider and super tech styler James Killpatrick, with dope / pig city team rider - Tom Banham coming a very close 2nd.

Highest ollie (not helped by the height of the ceiling) was taken by Duncan - at about 36 inches (sleep safely danny!) with the following 48.5 inch highjump award going to NikeSb & GMSC store rider Tom Felix.

Thanks for the masses of prizes donated by - Virus skateboards , Kingpin magazine, FSU skateboards, Girl and DVS shoes & lastly but no way leastly Mad props to Stevie from GMSC & Kev from re-al for the organisation and obstacle supply.

And lastly thanks to everyone who took part and made it down - see y'all next year - same time, same place, same day.

*photo's follow as quickly as a .............. ......................................(answers on a postcard!).
