This blog is no longer the home of the legendary – GMSC Skateboard and lifestyle emporium* but is now the new GMSC blog. Here occasionally our minds will wander onto new themes – food, drink, life & the living & loving of, semi occasional ramblings, findings & links, even maybe a little bit of skateboarding, you never know. *(The best little skateboard store this side of just about everywhere for those in the know in case you were wondering). GMSC – because we like it that way.

GMSC Skateboard and lifestyle emporium. Brighton.

The best little skate store this side of? Well just about everywhere, GMSC - Brighton’s only sk8r owned and run sk8 store is tucked away, a short skate from the Level skate park at the bottom of New England Road, Preston Circus (near the Duke of York cinema).
Having chosen to locate on the “edge of the world”, the ethos behind the store is to support the local skate scene whilst at the same time stocking highly sought after underground brands for those in the know.

Here at the GMSC store we pride ourselves on stocking an extensive range of mainly UK and European skate brand’s & hardware, plus a number of other super hard to find brands – including the ultra collectable and highly sought after NikeSB & Adidas Coast ranges (we GMSC have Brighton’s exclusivity on these),

Vibe:
“We care because you do” – underground store Tokyo / NY style – think last stop on the metro.

Staff:
Sk8r owned and run - (Managed by Pro skater Stevie Thompson) - all are able to give knowledgeable advice and are down with the local scene.

Main brands stocked:
Blueprint / Unabomber / Pig City / FSU / STP / NikeSB / dope© clothing / Atticus / Boutique Sportif + Hand painted custom graffiti trains and ephemera.
A must have buy are the Ltd edition GMSC Brighton tops.

Decor:
Clean but approachable - mix of old and new, 1930s counter and till, a full wall of boards, lit up clean white rails & an evolving in store “art wall” graffiti project.

Clientele:
Ranging all the way from Sneaker-freakers to Jazzy hip hoppers to sk8 grommets begging stickers and freebies, a total cross over mix that seems to exist happily alongside each other.

Location:
At the edge of the world - Away from the madding crowds but a short sk8 from the level, Difficult to find but eminently rewarding! Tell your friends once and your enemies twice!

Future?
Expansion of online store (http://www.thedopeshop.co.uk/) & the web ring of like minded individual stores around the globe, stocking the latest hot shit in an attempt to hold off the attempted chain store domination of our sports & lives.Ones to watch - excited about?
Supa-fresh new spring stocks – dopedenim©, the new NikeSB Zoom Tre & the eagerly awaited dope© V Quantic collaboration.

Events to look out for:
Monthly games of GMSC -a knockout version of skate - at the level to raise money towards the redevelopment of Brighton’s sorely neglected sk8park - get down & register in store,

Plus upcoming appearances by some of Europe’s top skate teams – see press or log onto www.gmscstore.com for details.
